A sustainable FEBS-IUBMB-ENABLE conference

In Cologne 2023 edition, the organisers have set a precedent to organise a green and sustainable conference. The scientific organising committee 2024 thrives to strengthen this commitment by making this page a main tab of our website. We pledge to continue the measures implemented including but not limited to the following.

By exclusively using a digital abstract book, we avoid wasting paper and unnecessary printing.

As much as possible, use locally-sourced food and be conscious to cater to various dietary needs

Limit single-use plastic cutlery and encourage use of personal bottles and mugs.

We highly encourage the participants to lower their carbon footprint by choosing forms of transportation with the least CO2 emission.

There are several calculators available (here, here, or here) to build self-awareness of one’s carbon footprint and take action to reduce it.

Education and communication are the key for almost any problem! For the broader public, we will raise awareness about the importance of taking care of our environment.

There’s no planet B, so let’s take care of the one we have! We will use a waste management system (plastic/ paper/ organic/ other), and all the bottles used during the event will be returned and reused.
